Imagine spending a short, pain-filled life pulling rubbish carts to help their owners earn a meagre living. This is the reality of the donkeys of Bamako’s rubbish dump.
They work endless hours in the sweltering sun without any access to water. They spend their days wearing uncomfortable, ill-fitting harnessing, which can cause constant suffering.
SPANA is on the ground in Bamako, working hard to alleviate their pain and suffering.
SPANA is treating their wounds, providing new, comfortable harnessing and training their owners how to take care of their animals – but we can’t continue without your help.
With our support they can provide essential shelter, food and water and vaccinate against deadly tetanus. They can also work with donkey owners to teach them about animal welfare and prevent future suffering.
£33 (about $50) could pay for the medicines and equipment such as sedatives, antibiotics and bandages to treat an animal’s leg wound.
£15 (under $25) could give five donkeys a course of painkillers each to ease their pain and discomfort.
£6 (less than $10) could vaccinate two donkeys for life against the potentially fatal disease, tetanus.
At Mulholland we give every month – and SPANA really gets a lot done with our money.
Please, donate what you can today and help them continue this vital work for the Donkeys of Bamako.
Thank you.
