Generally speaking, the mascots used for security companies have always been dogs. Usually big bruiser dogs. Here is an example of a dog we have used in one of our promotional materials.
Also, the logo for my company features a dog, a doberman pinscher, the sort of dog that is famous for being ferocious about protecting property or its master.
Now, I love dogs, but I have been giving a lot of thought lately to changing the mascot of our company to a donkey. And, I think, a baby one.
Is it because I have stumbled upon some little known about donkeys and how good they are at guarding things? Do they have a superior sense of smell or sight, or can they take huge bites out of fleeing banditos!
No, I am considering this as donkeys are just so darned cute!
And particularly baby donkeys.
I guess that it would be difficult for anyone, and particularly hard for my customers to imagine this. But try. Imagine yourself as a burglar, and you are wanting to break into a house. And all of a sudden, from behind, you hear soft footsteps, and this shows up behind you?
If you were a burglar and could continue to “burgle”(?) with all that furry cuteness looking on, I’d know you were VERY hard core. Probably no hope for you.
But I think most burglars would probably reform on the spot. I think the police might show up with the fellow still there, hugging this little pile of furriness. What do you think?
And, here’s a little secret and something we are all very happy about at the Ben David household – our donkeys are expecting! Yes, there’ll be a little creature like this with us in just a few months. Stay tuned!
I vote for the baby donkey as your new mascot!
